For this project, Fusion created fluid simulations for the shots for 2 spots, working remotely with Shilo in San Diego and Special Branch in NYC. Fusion generated the juice from the limes, with all other aspects of the spot were handled by the two other studios.
The main challenge here was the spritz from the lime peel as it unwraps from the bottle, where fluid has to emit from the thin edges of the lime peels. The complex geometry and orchestrated motion could not be done with standard methods in RealFlow. Instead, Fusion used a scripted method to find the edges of the peels as they are being revealed, and emit squirts of fluid exactly when needed. This method allowed the sims for multiple shots to be largely automated and dramatically reduced the time to generate these assets.
